I was always petrified to have a girl. Always. Petrified. So God gave me a girl. Cheers to Him.
Come to find out, it has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. She totally melts me. The way her little hands pat my shoulders when she gives me a hug. The way she says "take-oo" (thank you) when she hands me a remote or my cell phone after I remind her that she shouldn't have it. The way she's always so excited to see a new day, or one of us when we come into view. So innocent and so full of love. She also has a joy that is untainted by life itself.
Thank you, Livie for reminding me not to sweat the small stuff, for smoothing out rough days, for sharing your joy. To show you my thanks, I'll go back on what I've been telling everyone, I will not lock you in a closet until you are 30. I will not clean my shotgun the first time you bring a boy over. I pray that I guide you well, but not lord over you so much you rebel (a fear). You will always be a close second to your mom, but very, very dear to me.
I thank you Lord for ignoring my fear. You, Father, know best.
Great post Scott... think it even nudged out the yoga post in my favorites of yours!
